Meike Fessmann studied German language and literature, philosophy and the dramatic arts in Munich and Berlin. In 1991, she received her doctorate at the Free University Berlin with a dissertation on Else Lasker-Schüler and playing with authorship. She lives in Berlin as a freelance literary critic and essayist, writing for the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and the “Tagesspiegel” among other publications.
