Biography Dirk Vaihinger
Dirk Vaihinger, born 1966, read German literary studies and philosophy at the Free University Berlin, taking his PhD with the “Theory of Literature and Communication” graduate college at the University of Constance. An editor at Rowohlt Verlag, Reinbek, part of management at publishers Verlag Nagel & Kimche in Zürich since 2000.
His key areas are contemporary literature, Swiss literature, essays, children’s and teenage books. Book publications: Auszug aus der Wirklichkeit (2000), as editor Das traumstadtbuch (2001) and together with Peter von Matt Die schönsten Gedichte der Schweiz (2002). Member of the executive committee of the Association of Swiss Booksellers and Book Publishers and the Kulturmanagement-Forum. Various publications including essays and articles, judging activities, teaching.
The members of the Academy
In September 2004, the board of the Börsenverein made its unique appointment of the German Book Prize Academy which is made up of eleven members.
With representatives from the book industry and the arts and co-sponsors of the Prize, the advisory committee’s most important task is the annual selection of the jury. Publisher Dr. Gottfried Honnefelder is president of the German Book Prize Academy.
