Grenzgang – Walking the Boundaries
Suhrkamp

Every seven years, Bergenstadt is turned upside down, celebrating the walking of the boundaries, a traditional three-day festival, and it's not just the district boundaries that are put to the test. Full of unexpected twists and turns, Stephan Thome tells a gripping tale of the hunt for happiness which takes his characters from Berlin and Cologne to Hesse's backwaters and from there to a swingers' club on the outskirts of Frankfurt. It is soon obvious how easily supposed certainties can be lost and how we tread on thin ice with our ideas for our lives.
